Dam Good

This race was NOT Dam Good. It was more like Dam Hell!!

THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO MY FRIEND RYAN BOTTESSI

WHO HAS UNOFFICIALLY GIVEN UP HARESRAMBLES :(

Well Saturday was an absolutely beautiful day. We finally found our way to an acceptable hotel and snuggled in with the bed bugs.

The rain came with the morning light and got heavier as the day grew longer. We arrived at the dam early and prepared for the kids race in the morning. The kids were disappointed to hear they would only do two 7 mile laps. That meant coming out strong and staying strong. Sometimes hard to do in the wet grass and heavy mud. Well, 9am came and the kids were on the line ready. Now they hear it’s 3, 7 mile laps. Still same stradegy. Bigwheel took off and everything seemed to go well…..seemed to. Sawyer made it around the corner and fell, then he was run over a few times. He did get up and go after the pack. Next was mini A, the flag  was raised and “10 seconds” was shouted giving Jordan just enough time to get his foot on the kick starter and go….or so he thought. The flag was dropped within .05 seconds after 10 seconds was shouted leaving  Jordan flustered and last off the line. Tann made it through the first corner only to drop it in the second corner. All was well  and everyone got into the woods ok, with a bit of a struggle, but ok.  Zack was looking very good out on the trail, moving his way up with rocks without missing a beat. Sawyer and Conner moving right along as well. Up in front for our club was our man Nate. He took out the competition one by one. Saying that the track was a muddy, slippery mess would be an understatement. It is amazing that they all finished. Nate took 3rd in bigwheel, Conner took 5th andSawyer came in 6 seconds behind Conner to claim 6th place. Mini A rider Zack finished 2nd. He was definitely riding well. Jordan took 8th place and Tan the Man finished 10th. Great job boys. Now…driving Miss Daisey or otherwise known as Aubrey finished 2nd. It was a tough track and after one lap she had had enough.

Mike O’Brian and Danny were our only riders in the 11 o’clock race and after just 2 laps Mike  had a clutch cable problem and pulled off the track. Better luck next time Mike. Danny finished the race, with daughter Olivia watching patiently, and loved it.

1pm came and the rain let up alittle, a very little. Riders on the start. Ready, set, go… staying up through the first few corners seemed to be the trouble again. John and Jim had a nice start. Ryan did a very pretty twirl for the crowd and then continued on his way. Dillan got right out there only to dump it and have a few bikes go right over top of him. BeeOBee, Rob, Todd, Digger and Paul all had a good start. Ty and Dylan flew into the first corner, Dylan just thought it was a little wider and took some ribbon with him, but it was still good. Jamie and Chad hammered in too. Billy Burns was there and did very well. I think he is starting to like our harescrambles. The race was on and the rain had started again. Crystal, Zack and I headed into the woods to get a few good photos. The first guy to grab our attention was Jim…looking really good out there. Next we see Billy, John, Ryan, BeeOBee, etc, etc. The one that really jumped out at us was…Todd. He was infront of Erdman :) by a number of seconds. Yes.. we knew he could beat Erdman. Next lap he is still in front. Erdman did not look happy :) but we sure were. Everyone seemed to be moving right along. Dig was loving the race and even Jamie was going right up the rocky, slippery mess. Then Paul stops coming by, Ryan stops coming by, and worse still, Erdman comes by…no Todd. Hearing that the checkered flag was out, we headed out of the woods. We found Paul at the trailer and he quit and is never racing again…Found Ryan at his trailer and he quit and is never racing another harescramble…and found poor Todd at his truck, his chain come off and he had to push out of the woods, #@$#X. I think Crystal and I want him to beat Erdman more than he does. He definitely takes it better.. The finishes go something like this ( I am really slacking off in this department I know). Jim takes 4th, Billy takes  ?   and John finishes 7th. Dillan took 4th in class and BeeOBee finished 2nd. Ty took ? and Dylan got ?.  Digger got 2nd in class and Todd finished 6th. Marty finished 1st in class. Rob took ? and Jamie got 2nd in class. Butch had a good race and finished ? and Chad got ?.

I look forward to seeing all you hard working riders next weekend at the race. I am sure the weather will be better and the track awesome. I am sorry to hear our fellow club member has given up, quit, dropped out, couldn’t hack it, lost the drive, what ever you want to call it, Ryan doesn’t want to play with us anymore. See you around, clown.

I will update this page tomorrow with everyone’s proper finish…sorry again

Be race ready and see you in RI
